We went to Adventureland on Saturday. I’ve had tickets since before school let out for the summer. We got there just before the park closes later this month. It had trains, planes, boats, a great carousel and several rollercoasters. It’s a great place, and the kids had a blast.
There’s this place in town called Heritage Park. It’s a “historical village” with old buildings, steam engines and tractors, and it preserves old-fashioned farming processes (threshing grain, baling hay, making ice cream) with demonstrations and exhibits. It wasn’t officially open, but we were there at the old Norwegian Lutheran church (moved in from the country) for a potluck dinner with the local Sons of Norway. The kids got to venture out a bit and play. The park will be open this week, so we’ll try to get there. The kids want to see the train. I hope there’s a train. We saw tracks, anyway.
Remember Keep America Beautiful? And this guy?
So why do I have to pick up trash in my yard? I live in the country. Don’t make me go near those cornstalks.
Listen. You don’t even have to be literate. Just look at the fries box. See where it tells you to toss your trash? NOT out the car window.
C’mon. Don’t make that guy cry anymore, huh?
I made 19 pints of tomato sauce to put in the freezer. I used tomatoes, green peppers and onions from our garden and fresh herbs.
I took this picture in October last year.
That tree started changing colors already this year in August.
The summer greens (oh, how I love the summer greens) are turning to yellows and browns. Gah! No! I’m not ready for winter!
