I’ve lost count of the snow days
The school jinxed it when it sent a note home last week that said, “Beginning Monday, Feb. 8, we will be adding 30 minutes to our school day for the rest of the 2009-2010 school year.” You know. To make up for a gazillion snow days.
Which means, of course, that Monday, Feb. 8, was a SNOW DAY.
Yep. Sure enough. I bet Tuesday, Feb. 9 is too.
I tried to post photos, but WordPress is being all hinky. Will try again tomorrow.
We got an invitation to a wedding in the Bahamas in May. I’m SO wishing we could go NOW and hang out until the wedding.
PSA: For anyone who thinks I complain too much: Go away. Nothing to see here. We got nothing but unicorns and rainbows in these parts. Yay. Whee. Can’t wait for more snow. Whoo-hoo.

Sick of snow
I know some smart and funny people. My friend Bob, who lives in Washington, D.C., wrote this delightful ode to snow. Thanks, Bob! I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Oh, the weather outside is flaky,
And my nerves are kinda shaky,
And since I’ve no place to go,
I am so sick and tired of the snow!
It doesn’t show signs of warming,
And the drifts are slowly forming,
The temperature’s way down low,
And I’m so sick and tired of the snow!
When I’ve shoveled it all at last,
And the driveway is finally clear,
The plow once again comes past,
Piling it all up to here!
It’s certainly not too pleasing
When melted snow’s refreezing,
And I really want you to know:
I am so @&#^ sick of the snow!!!

You think you’re driving anywhere tonight? Ha!
Crazy snow drift from the last storm.

Blue skies smiling at me, nothing but blue skies do I see
Morning parhelion, er, sun dog. Woof.

I can’t make it on my own, drive me home
This is what it was like driving in a blizzard a few hours ago. Visibility now is even less, I’m sure, and the driveway is completely drifted shut. (Well, that, and it’s getting dark.) Better get out there and start clearing. If my count is right, this is Blizzard No. 5.

Rocking pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu
I just moved my mini-pharmacy from the kitchen back to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. I hope I didn’t jinx anything.

I can’t remember what I said, I lost my head
This is what happens when the temperatures hit 30 degrees or so for a few days. (That’s the snowman’s carrot nose on the ground beside him.) It’s not like spring is here or anything. Just a mid-winter “heat wave” to make things all messy. The weather forecast calls for lower temperatures and more snow and ice.

Clearing the driveway
I had to wait until I could feel my feet again before I posted this. We cleared the driveway, which I’m sure we’ll have to do again in the morning.
We even had to clear part of the highway. I don’t think the snowplows were out today, and I saw they weren’t being sent out tonight. That means the whole highway might be closed tomorrow.
The mail carrier surprised me. He actually tackled a good 2 feet of snow and a huge drift in front of our mailbox to deliver our mail. Thanks, Jerry!
We have lots more digging out in our future. And I hope the LP gas lasts throughout the winter because I don’t think we’ll see the tank until spring. It’s buried under a good 5 feet of snow drift.
And if this were a horror movie? This would be the point when the scary voice would whisper-shout, “Get out!”
